Yego in tears as injury thwarts a gold medal push, wins silver

There was drama in men’s javelin where the leader Julius Yego injured himself on his fourth attempt and had to sit and watch the rest of the competition. Yego was leading the field with a throw of 88.24 meters.

As Yego was getting medical attention, and probably retired from the contest because of the injury, it got worse: Thomas Rohler of Germany threw a huge effort to take the lead. Lego had to look on devastated, knowing too well that the gold was now an asymptote-near, but far.

A devastated Yego could not hold back tears; a realization he could not challenge the German with one more throw.
